"Very nice ride David!

My father owns BOTH a crosley AND a fiat racer. Because he's blind, I drive the race car! LOL

How long have you owned that racer? It looks like a screamer!

"Hey there Dick,

"Lou's a good guy! We've also contacted Mitch S and hope to get in touch with the Plotkins. It would be pretty amazing to have 4 of them on the track together considering how many 850 race cars are left out there.

Will definitely keep in touch and…"

"Thanks for the comments on Pix. With my father, we've been going to vintage races for about 10 years. Before losing his sight, he raced a Fiat 600 around the Northwest in the early 70's.

We plan on unveiling the "new" 850 at the Seattle Historics,…"

  • Hi Michael,
missed you at WS it was cold and windy.

  • Hello Michael,

Thx for the comments. I've had the Abarth for 7 yrs now. Was brought from Dever, CO. It's a 64 (suicide doors) with a 1050 cc Abarth motor (approx. 80 hp), close ratio box, 4 wheel discs. Did a LOT of work to it: engine, tranny, suspension, roll cage, body, etc... Just installed the close ration box that broke 2 yrs ago. Can't wait to try it out in Mosport this coming week-end. Will try to produce another video. Stay tuned. Cheers

Thanks very much for your comments. Right now the car is untested.
Thre plan is to get in some track events(not wheel to wheel racing just yet) to work out the bugs and generally shake the car down.
Hope to do a proper race school next year with racing to follow.

My "home track" is Limerock Park, with Pocono and the soon to open New Jersey Motorsports Park within 130 miles of home
    Cheers

  • I bought the car in Feb 2005 and spent the next two years restoring it. I blew an engine in March at the CA Speedway and did not have a backup engine ready, so I have not been able to race since. The car will be back in action this July, again at CA Speedway (VARA event). This time I am preparing three engines, so another blown engine won't have me out of action for so long.

  • My camera is an ancient Panasonic AFx8 palmcorder, I would like to eventually replace it with one of the little didgital recorders but that is another item dictated by $.

  • Hi Mac.
By the way I meant to tell you I really like the blue stripes on your car I thought that when I have the time and money I would add something like that only in maroon similar to James Deans "Lil Bastard" 550 Porsche.
I am not going to the July race at Cal speedway, it is always over 100deg. and the heat is too much for me and the car, I will probably also miss the Buttonwillow race and go to Albuquerque with SWMS the cost of towing the car to Cal. is getting to be an issue (about $400 each time) but I will probably do Las Vegas, I have family visiting from Wales that month and it depends on their schedule I am definately planning on the BBB in Nov. at Willow springs my favorite track. If you have never been there before and you have the ability to change gearing bring the tallest you have got this is a high speed momentum track with two long straights (the back stretch is downhill and has a slight kink but is flat out all the way through turn 8). If it would be of help to you and if you have the ability to play VHS C tape I have some in car film and also VHS tape from the stands that I will lend you to get some idea of the track however I have done this before and lost some tapes so I must insist that you return them if you bring them to the BBB that will be ok. If you are interested send me your mailing address and I will send them to you they are about 18 years old and from my Giulietta sprint but the track hasn't changed very much since then.

    Dick.
  • HI Mac.
There is a 850 Alemagne (sp) spyder which runs with VARA I don't know the name (it might be Mitch S) Lou would probably know how to contact him. The Plotkins can be reached through VARA (800) 280-VARA.
I sold my sports racer in Feb. and bought this car to get back into an Alfa and production racing (much more fun) so I have only raced it twice, California Speedway 1st in class and Buttonwillow (British Extraveganza) 3rd in class. I have to run E.P. Modified because I have a 1750 engine in it, I will build a legal 1600 as soon as I get all the necessary bits together,
How has your year gone so far?.
    Dick.
  • Hi Mac.
Great looking 850. I will be at the big bore bash we should make contact, My friend Lou Ames will probably also be there with his 850 Zuccini Spyder.

    Dick.
