Tony Carpanzano left a comment for Brian Stark
"Brian,

I agree. The springs are too soft. I would recommend 275 lbs/in in the front and 375 lbs/in in the rear as a good starting point. You'll find the car very forgiving with this set-up and you can stiffen it from there as you become familiar…"

Tony Carpanzano replied to Robert DeSouza's discussion Camping at Lime Rock in Lime Rock Park
"I haven't camped at the track for a number of years now. I can tell you it's alot of fun for me and my family, because we love racing and camping. The only issue might be what the track allows these days and charges. Skip has to pay for last year's…"

Tony Carpanzano left a comment on Lime Rock Park
"The Vintage Fall Festival has literally been a "showcase" event ever since Steve Earle took over the event. There was real racing going on, but it was only as real as Steve would allow. I don't mean it in a bad way. I enjoyed my drives in the last 4…"

"I can't wait to get back in the saddle. This winter has been too long. The only bad thing about Lime Rock is that you can't enjoy it year 'round."

"Hi Cathy,

Season is winding dow now. I'm off to the NARRC runoffs tomorrow. Not sure if I'll get to Atlanta. If you see Bruce MacInnes (chief instructor for SAkip Barber) tell him you're a friend of mine. He's bound to help you, or at least tell…"

  • My plan is to take the car to Road America for the May SVRA race. I live in Milwaukee so that is my home track. I would have liked to have a test day somewhere first but that isn't working out. That is why I was asking about set up. Even though I have raced the B36 for years I am a little apprehensive about the first time in the car. Glad to hear it is somewhat forgiving. Although all Chevrons seem to write you a letter before you lose it. After Road America probably will take it to Mid Ohio in June. I added a picture of car to my page...... Brian
  • Thanks Tony, this is the Bill Brack car. Pat Phalan sold it to a guy in Arizona who never drove it. I was able to get the car along with a set of body moulds for a lot less then he was asking. The car is actually in very good shape, engine new by Quicksilver. The trans needed some help and we are putting new shocks and springs in it. Everything else was good. Also adding a bead seat. I may need to bother you for some info.
    Thanks,
    Brian
  • Tony, my name is Brian Stark. I vintage race a Chevron B36 and just bought a B29. I understand you had one for many years. I am looking for a good starting point for front and rear spring rates. Car has 220 front and 230 rear and that seems quite soft, but I don't know. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Brian
  • Hey, Tony! Good to hear from you. We do have to get together and race, or party, or something!

  • Hi Cathy,

Season is winding dow now. I'm off to the NARRC runoffs tomorrow. Not sure if I'll get to Atlanta. If you see Bruce MacInnes (chief instructor for SAkip Barber) tell him you're a friend of mine. He's bound to help you, or at least tell you some wild stories about the CanAm season when I was his crewchief.
We'll have to talk shop sometime. I have been working in pharma product development for 29 years.
