"Hi Mike, Can't wait to see them all.

Memorial weekend took some off road mud racing pictures.

See lower left image. http://www.pbase.com/jeepertom

This mud was so thick that after making 3 test runs my Jeep would not restart,

so I took pictures.…"

"Hi Morgan,
I think if the PPIHC has a group of driver that can put together a class of cars to run they would make that class. A Vintage 4WD class could be made if the right people apporched them. You had dropped the name of Stroppe in one comment…"

4 times for 100 miles. It even looks like the road gets yorn up from the tires.

"HI Morgan,
Just an update as to Vintage 4WD cars in the Vintage Class.
They would not be allowed in the Vintage class due to being
set up for sedans and sport cars that are vintage. It appears if
a vintage 4WD was allowed it would kill the class of…"

  • Tom,
I'm about half way through with posting my hill climb photos for the vintage folks. Here is a link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mike_rogers/sets/72157624365476678/
  • Tom,
That would be a cool class,
Too bad they're paving more of the road every year though.
The plan was to go this year, but at this time, it is unlikely to happen unfortunately.
    Talk to you soon.
  • Tom,
I have some of my recent Temple Canyon hill climb photos posted on my photo site here:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/mike_rogers/sets/72157624098562454/

I still have a bunch more to process and upload. This event was easier to get around to view areas and the entire road was dirt. It made for some fun action to watch.

  • and yes - we'd love to help your friend :-))
  • Hi Tom
    Great to hear from you.
We have the "link to us" logo and HTML code to put our logo on a third party website.
Hit the "Home" tab on the myVRL homepage and the link to us page is the second tab from the bottom.
We do not sell our logo.
    All the best - Stephen
  • Tom,
We have a local hill climb club, Colorado Hill Climb Association. Their web site is: http://www.chcaracing.com
In addition to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb they have 3-4 other races each year. I haven't made it to one of their other hill climb events yet. The other events are all on non-paved mountain roads or off-road closed course facilities. They have a fairly active member forum here:
    http://www.coloradohillclimb.com/

Let me know what Chris thinks of the book. I hope he enjoys it - you put a lot of time and effort into it.

Great photos on your page here!

    Mike
  • Thanks to you Tom, I'm learning a lot about the origin of off-road racing. Can we find any links about these jeeps, sounds like an interesting concept.
  • For while, I had to put racing on the side to focus on my new business.
I did some arrive and drive events with the Jim Russell at Sears Point (now Infineon) and road race a specmiata on the west coast as well as my S2000. As a coach I have the chance to drive and ride in a lot of different cars, and I realized that vintage is what's move me. Now that I have a little more time, I want to go back in the racing seat and promote the company at the same time. So I was looking at early race mustang. Seeing your jeep made me think (our suits are for vintage but the design is perfect for desert racing too.), and a Bronco (think Bill Stroppe) or jeepster commando c101 could be nice and different.
  • I'm not sure just yet, but I have to be able to use it the rest of the year for either road racing and rallies or desert racing.
  • Thank you for the link,
    Lot of nice shots!
I have to say, I'm very impressed, it takes some to race a car like Jess' on the dirt inches from the cliff!
But PPIHC is on my list, and it'll be vintage!
    Morgan
