I just posted a video I found that a guy in a Vette took while chasing me at the last track event at Firebird Raceway, East track earlier this month.http://www.myvrl.com/video/lister-being-chased-by-a-vetteI was running a bit slow that day, about 3-4 seconds off previous times, but am still surprised that he was able to close on me for a while. I am still in the midst of rear suspension changes and while the Lister is pretty driveable, it is not as fast as it once was through the turns. When I changed out the rear diff I upgraded the rear trailing and camber arms to sherical bearings which loosened the rear suspension bind significantly. This effectively reduced the rear spring rate as well as highlighted that my rear shocks were just insufficient to control the car. I bought some coil-overs for the rear but due to mounting issues that were not resolved in time for that weekend, I just kept the monoleaf spring on the car and installed the Koni shocks sans coils. The car handled better than on the old shocks but the spring rate was still an issue and after viewing this video I can see a fair amount of body roll that I do not think that I had before. One additional factor is that I was running with a rear alignment that I did myself at home so I am no longer corner balanced or accurately aligned. Once I get the mounts taken care of then I will have the alignment redone.

Nice pics, Alan. I was hoping there would be a photographer at my recent open track so I could have a couple of on-track pics of my car, but apparently no one had a camera.
One final post from this event. Here is a video taken from my car catching and pressing a C6 Vette who was a bit stubborn. He was tking some "interesting" lines.
Alan, your photos appear as red "X"s. I tried right-clicking on "Show Photo" but nothing happened. Any ideas?

Thanks Bob,
I don't know what happened to the photos that I had posted. They were ok when I first posted them but they seem to have disappeared somehow since then. I will delete the ones above and attempt to repost in just a minute or two.

Suspension issues and all, you look very, very smooth and consistent. That's in contrast to the camera car, which is hopping curbs and getting loose trying to keep up. Perhaps it's just the camera amplifying it, but I started cringing every time some curbing came up--sonded like the car was jumping railroad tracks.
Boy, you're not kidding when you say that track is FLAT!

and SLOW... ;-)
The guy in the camera car is actually much better than he used to be, there are videos on the web with him at past events where he is all over the place. I think he used to be proud of his ability to spin. But to his credit he is doing pretty well with limited track experience and on stock tires (so he claims). I will have to check his car out at the next event to see if there are any little secrets he has not mentioned.
Nice video, Alan. I especially liked shot #78 of the engine.
At SEMA, I ran into a Taiwanese company that had remote-reservoir coil-over shocks that are adjustable for both bounce AND rebound. The company owner is a racer that got fed up with the low-quality junk currently on the market. I'm in the process of securing a set for review, and if they work as well as they look, a group buy could make them more affordable. I don't think they're be as pricey as Penske's, but ya never know.
My Koni 8212 shocks are double adjustable as well but they don't have the remote reservoir since they are not gas shocks. They are nice rebuildable shocks that are somewhat expensive but not nearly as bad as the adjustable Penske's. Those are for folks that do real racing or have unlimited budgets.
