Infineon Raceway

Infineon Raceway celebrated 40 years of racing during the 2008 Big O Tires Racing Season, as the Sonoma Valley facility once again hosted the most diverse racing schedule in the country. Located just 30 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the 1,600-acre facility serves as the gateway to the beautiful Sonoma Wine Country.

Highlighted by the 20th consecutive visit by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the raceway hosted seven major events in 2008, including the AMA Superbike Series, the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series and the IndyCar® Series. The raceway also celebrated its 40th anniversary with a variety of exciting elements.

In addition to its slate of major events, Infineon Raceway is a year-round motorsports complex with events scheduled 340 days and 50 weekends a year. More than 500,000 fans pass through the gates during each season.

  • Should be a great event with over 1000 minis of every description expected
  • That sounds like fun . Take lots of pictures and post at the end of each day along with a short description your adventures.
  • Will do! Not sure how many I'll be involved in. I'm driving my '05 MINI Cooper S on a big trip to Canada for the Mini Meet West in Penticton, British Columbia at the end of June, along with at least 2 other new Minis and 2 classic Austin Minis.
  • Let me know what events and corner your working. We will get together.
  • I'm still here too Dennis. I'm going out there the middle of February to get training with the SCCA Safety Safari as a volunteer. Don't know what they'll have me doing but it will be fun to be a part of the insider group at event. Haven't done that since the mid-80's when I was involved with the American Federation of Motorcyclists roadracing.
  • Bob.
I am still around. Will be doing all or most of the Sears Point Historic/Vintage events. Dennis Gray
  • Hello!! Anybody in the group still out there? Is the Infineon Raceway Group now defunct?
  • Now that Steve Earl has dropped out of Laguna Seca,Lime Rock & Coronado, he says he intends to focus his attention on the Wine Country Historics @ Infineon(I think they have already been renamed). Does that mean we might begin to see manufacturers sending over significant autos from their museums, ala Monterey Historics? Will we see major drivers from earlier years returning to race their old "steeds" at Infineon? Will we see an occassional tent of race cars of historical importance ala Monterey Historics? Will we see an upgrade in the vendors area from the rather anemic selection previously available? Or will the thrust at Infineon continue to be the wine & food tent?
  • Since Infineon has supported a NASCAR cup race for so many years, why don't the Nationwide series or Truck series ever come to Infineon? Has the track not tried to get a race date for them, or do the 2 series have some particular reason for not coming to Infineon?
