  • Welcome to our group Kevin!! Make yourself at home.
  • There have been rumours that the new F1 Teams would be able to miss the first few races without penalty. This statement from the FIA puts that to rest:

    PARTICIPATION IN EVENTS COUNTING TOWARDS

THE FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Following recent reports on the interpretation of clauses in the Concorde Agreement concerning the concept of a Team's ‘participation’ in the FIA Formula One World Championship, the FIA wishes to make the following clarification:

From a sporting and regulatory point of view, each Team that has registered for the Championship is obliged to take part in every event of the season. Any failure to take part, even for just one Championship event, would constitute an infringement both of the Concorde Agreement and the FIA Regulations.
  • I agree. There really was no "merger" at all, which is why things are in the shape they are. I always thought that the "merger" should have started off with a new chassis, so there wouldn't be anyone taking sides. I believe there is still a split because of this. Champ Car fans were "forced" to become IRL fans. That wasn't the right way to go.
And I was a diehard Champ Car fan as well. Maybe I am a bit bias. lol
  • As a died in the wool Champcar fan, I promised several of my friends who hold positions in the IRL I would play nice and have an open mind about the IRL......That being said I will only add that your last comment unfortunately seems to sum up the thought processes and mindset of the people overseeing AOWR right now, we have seen some glimmers of hope in the last couple of months so we will just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best going forward.......Did you know, btw that the DP01 Chassis was designed to use the IRL spec 3.5 N/A powerplant? It would have been so easy to not alienate CCWS fans by simply "Merging" the two series, and not just dissolving one.....Crap! I started monologue-ing...I was NOT going to do that here!!!!! Sorry, I will get back off my soap box and fall in line LOL

  • I agree with Long Beach, it would be a little hairy. I also agree, that it might be ok to see them in another series, but not IndyCar. IndyCar is open wheel racing, and as you pointed out, this is not an open wheel race car. Doesn't make any sense to me that they say that it's the future of open wheel racing, when it's not even an open wheel car.
  • Uh....its a cool car.......but uh.......Well, lets just say I can not see 30 of them fighting for a position at the end of Shoreline Drive. It warrants its own race series...just not Indy car...technically, I do not think you could call it an open wheel car...could you?
